Steven R. Stein, PhD
Clinical Director
Steven R. Stein, PhD is a licensed psychologist who has been providing mental health assessments and treatment for the past 45 years. His specialty is adolescents and children and includes the family, community and schools. Dr. Stein is also the Clinical Director, cofounder and supervisor of the NorthStar Adolescent Day Treatment Program. His career includes research and teaching as a university professor for 11 years. He also has provided clinical consultation and supervision to a myriad of masters level therapists, counselors and treatment programs. Dr. Stein enjoys songwriting and producing music. He also enjoys camping with his family.

Renee Doyle, MFT

Renee holds a Masters Degree and is licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy. Renee has worked with teens and their families in a number of different settings, including Northstar Day Treatment for Adolescents. She uses several different treatment models including Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Model.


Theresa McMunn, LPC

Theresa is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health. Much of Theresa’ s experience and passion is involved in working with children, adolescents, families, couples and adults. Theresa works within a strength-based approach; adjusting therapy to the needs of each individual. She will often draw from various approaches that include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT, Mindfulness based practices, Family Systems and Play Therapy.
Claudia Marte, MA, LPC

Claudia has extensive experience working with diverse populations with over 15 years of experience in higher education. She is also a Navy Veteran. She uses a strengths-based and solutions-focused approach to empower clients to overcome challenges and create the life they want. She works with adults, teens, families, and couples who are navigating life changes, experiencing anxiety or depression, struggling with stress or anger, having relationship concerns, and those who want to heal from past wounds. Claudia’s style is collaborative, involving strength-based, cognitive, behavioral in both individual and group therapy. She is also fluent in Spanish and is passionate about helping clients with the belief that all individuals have strengths that can be used to overcome life’s challenges.

Sarah K. Adams, LPC

Sarah collaborates actively with individual adult clients to identify challenges, nurture strengths, and to integrate self-care practices into daily life. With time, this may support the client to reconnect with feelings of vitality, wholeness, and purpose. Sarah supports each client to make meaningful connections to self and others, to creative and spiritual practices, to work, and to the natural world. Sarah is guided by principles of compassion and respect for the unique experience of each client. She is trained in relationally based Gestalt Therapy and draws on techniques from Polyvagal Informed Therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy. Sarah completed the Gestalt Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and is in ongoing training as a teacher of iRest Meditation from the Integrative Restoration Institute.
